Toby Carvery - Wakefield

Attended here this afternoon with my parents. Despite them experiencing some issues and not accepting walk in bookings, the service and food was great. My mum uses a mobility scooter and we were accommodated in the bar area so she had more space. A member of staff offered to help me when carrying 2 plates from the carvery which was appreciated. Overall lovely experience, despite the staff clearly being under pressure they remained pleasant, friendly, helpful, and professional. Thank you.

The food was good, as usual, but unfortunately doesn’t make up for the awful service we received, especially when it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Three members of staff stood at the bar chatting while they could see we were clearly waiting to be seated. Even if they aren’t the member of staff to seat us, they could’ve at least made the relevant staff member aware, instead of standing around doing nothing. The food was great and the drinks were great. However, back to service, we asked for a takeout box to take some leftover bits away with us and instead of assisting us, the staff member was seen stood around at the bar chatting away to other staff members. We were left waiting so long we just paid and walked out. Probably won’t be coming back for a while.

Nice pub and excellent service. Prices are good. Im sure food was ok but tbh its not my thing. My partner said its not as good as it normally is so im not sure.
