1.0a week agoIf it had not been a family meal I would not have eaten there. The exterior requires an update. However you should never judge a book by it's cover. I have never known a carvery whereby there is no turkey. Yes there was no turkey available just red meat. At this point in normal circumstances I would have walked out especially after seeing the vegetable sekection. The China Gardens carvery is a lot better standard .I asked for the vegetarian selection and was offered salmon???? and a small selection and went for the nut roast. The actual veg selection required replenishing. Potatoes over cooked, cabbage looked like it had stood there all night and limited peas. Nut roast was more like a carrot roast, even if it did not taste too bad. I understand the pub may have been busy in the day but consideration should be given to evening diners. For a Friday evening in comparison to other pubs I have visited the pub was very quiet with regulars

5.04 months agoExcellent food great prices helpful staff and delicious hot and freshly prepared. Staff superb and welcoming along with excellent knowledge of hospitality and doing as much for the customer as possible. A real little gem of a place car park plenty of parking a really nice warm vibe from coming in the premises and definitely recommend the chefs dumplins😉. A great facility found out of luck on a drive too the peaks. Will return again. ***** five stars thumbs up to the friendly smiling staff *****

3.08 months agoWe haven't visited for a while so popped in for Sunday dinner. It is my sons favourite so a treat for him. The staff as always were lovely. However my beef was extremely grisly meaning I had to leave half of it. To be honest there was lots so I didn't bother to complain. The yorkshire was huge and gorgeous. Roastie a little dry they had obviously been sat for a while. There were no options for my OT who doesn't eat meat or dairy ( there is usually a lovely mushroom pie) and no milk alternative for coffees which they advertise as having. This is a shame as it was a good place with choices for us all but not this time. The mini puddings have also been taken from the menu which is another shame. Because of the lack of variety it may mean we have to look elsewhere which would be a shame as we have been visiting for years. 😪
