Both times we have been here it has been lovely. Once was lunchtime menu, 2nd time evening meal. Both times food and staff were great. Definitely is a eatery we will be regularly frequenting. Thank you to our waiter Peter, super service and the birthday suprise dessert was a lovely touch.

We came for a family lunch on Sunday 29 December. Service was poor. The staff were not very friendly or welcoming. They took over an hour to bring the food. We had two children under 8 who were very hungry. After asking where the food was we had no apology and the explanation was given that because they hadn't cleared the kids' vegetable stick starters they hadn't started cooking the food. They charged 10% service charge for food ordered at the bar without notifying they were doing so. After a further complaint they refunded the service charge, but no real apology.

The staff are absolutely lovely and there’s no doubt it’s a beautiful restaurant but the food is just kind of okay. I wouldn’t rush back. I was so looking forward to a fish finger sandwich after seeing it on the menu online but what I actually got was some sort of crispy thing - maybe a panini, I’m not sure what to call it, which was quite crunchy. Add that to the fish that was mostly crunchy batter, and it was rather difficult to eat!! The roof of my mouth is still destroyed 😂 The tartare sauce and accompanying salad were delicious. The chips were okay but not the hottest. My friend had the mushroom eggs Benedict thing but the muffin was really tough and she had trouble cutting it. My dessert was an apple pie that was 80% pastry, and some very sour apple slices in the bottom which I abandoned. Brownie was apparently very good. Although we weren’t in a hurry and were happy to chat, the whole lunch took two and a half hours, which was a while given it wasn’t busy. Altogether not terrible but not fab either.
