4.03 weeks agoI recently had the pleasure of enjoying a full English breakfast at Bistro du Vin, located within Hotel Du Vin Newcastle, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The breakfast offerings were extensive, featuring all the classic options you’d expect from a quality hotel restaurant. From freshly baked pastries to traditional English breakfast items, everything was prepared with care and attention to detail. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the sausages and bacon were crisp yet tender, and the selection of fresh fruit and juices was a nice touch. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional service provided by Simone and Tino. Both were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure a warm and welcoming experience. Their professional yet personable approach made the meal even more enjoyable. Overall, I’d highly recommend the full breakfast at Bistro du Vin for both the quality of the food and the top-notch service.

2.0a month agoMixed experience here. The hotel and room were lovely and very comfortable, and the food I had from room service was delicious. There was a loud humming/draining sound coming from the ceiling which was preventing me from falling asleep, the night manager very kindly let me into another room to sleep there, and was very gracious in resolving the issue (the plumbing in the bathroom above). The reason I have given 2, not 4 stars, is that while I was halfway through eating breakfast, the bistro manager came with the card machine to try and charge me for breakfast, which was included in the room rate I had paid. I then had to sit there and go through the rigmarole of logging into booking.com to find the receipt, which made me download the app, all the while he was hovering over me while my hot breakfast (not cheap at £24!!) went cold. Lastly, housekeeping came into the room when I was preparing to get in the shower, having been told I had already checked out. For over £200 for one night including the dog* and what I spent in the bistro, I'm not impressed, and it's a shame my visit ended on a negative. I explained this when checking out and while they were apologetic, that was it. Unlikely to return here as a result. *while I very much appreciate hotels that allow dogs, 25 per night is a little excessive (never paid more than 10 anywhere else, for a 4kg dog) considering it is still a little awkward as you can't take them to breakfast but also can't leave them in the room. The bar staff helpfully kept an eye on her while I went to the buffet, but it wasn't ideal.
