3.02 months agoFirst of all, we went in, sat down, offered the menu. We did ask about if the traditional afternoon tea has the tea or coffee included. They checked and said yes, but didn’t explain what sort of coffee or tea they offer… a bit meh Got asked about if we have allergy 4 times in a row in the window of 10 mins, I guess it’s like a ‘triple confirm’ situation… Food was okay. Sandwiches are a bit dry and blend…(would have expected better quality)… scones were lovely. Desserts were okay. good size… nothing special. They did come and checked about if we needed extra coffee/drink every 10 mins, that might seem to be a bit too much or overwhelming… For the price point, I will definitely go to a different hotel for afternoon tea in Manchester! Or even Richmond tea room :)

5.02 weeks agoSplendid afternoon tea at the Lowry Hotel. View across the river Irwell from our table and delicious savory treats with tea or coffee followed by tasty cakes. Some fine artwork in the lobby.

1.0a week agoThe afternoon tea was a horrendous experience. The service was abysmal. They knew nothing about the teas when asked and were not attentive or knowledgable with anything. The tea itself wasn't hot. It took 3 attempts to get a hot tea but by the time they brought the milk out (10 minutes later), I gave up on the idea of a hot tea! The sandwiches were put on a plate, not on a stand, with no presentation or thought at all. And the flavours weren't quite there. Most of the cakes were nice, just one on the dry side. And the scones were dry and lacked so much. Sainsburys scones are much better! Overall it was a high price to pay for such a poor experience. I've been to cheaper afternoon teas that were tastier and better service. Very disappointed.
