The Marksman is a stylish Victorian gastropub, specialising in a delicious Sunday Lunch offering.

Located in Hackney, the Marksman is furnished in an oak wood panelling that creates a cosy vibe perfect to while away a Sunday afternoon, but still retains that old school authenticity of a proper neighbourhood pub.

Their daily changing menu is inspired by the rich and diverse culinary history of London, focusing on the best of British seasonal food and drinks. Sundays are the day to visit The Marksman, where you can enjoy one of their classic Sunday Roasts.

Just a short walk from Hoxton station, the food is simple, but served to a fantastically high standard making it an ideal destination for foodies looking for an authentic vibe of a proper London pub.

What a lovely meal. The atmosphere is eclectic, the service is brilliant, the menu is creative and caters to all. From the nocellara olives to the pie, it was all heavenly. Some suggestions which were a novelty for me were the caraway and black treacle sourdough, the Dorset crab kedgeree and the chicken and preserved cep pie. Go!

The food here is incredible. Everything we ordered was delicious and would highly recommend the pie. I had the oysters and then shared the chicken and mushroom pie & chips with my fiancé. The only regret was that I had no room for pudding because there was no way I was leaving any of that pie! Have already booked to come back to celebrate a family birthday. This is the king of gastro pubs!

38 pounds for two courses on a Sunday, and you can pick either an app or a dessert. A bit pricey, but the food is excellent! We got the chilled pea soup and smoked mackerel as apps, and cod & clams and asparagus pie. Best mackerel I have ever had and cod was well seasoned, flaky and tender. Highly recommend it!
