The Dickens Inn is a gorgeous pub nestled in St Katherine Dock by the River Thames, with two lovely beer gardens, and picturesque interiors.

The Dickens Inn has a long and intriguing history intertwined with Charles Dickens and East London heritage. First the wooden warehouse building thought to have housed tea since late 1700s, and later reconstructed in the 18th century to turn into the three storey balconied inn that now graces St Katherine Docks.

Decorated with antique furniture and an airy decor, The Dickens Inn focuses on friendly service and English pub traditions. Embracing the natural beauty of St Katherine Docks, The Grill proudly serves classic British dishes with a seasonal focus. Offering a range of delicious pub grub, speciality steaks, Sunday roasts and delicious fresh fish, there is something for everyone on the menu.

In the heart of St Katherine Docks, The Dickens Inn is situated near the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, just a short walk from Tower Hill Underground Station.

Please note, Breakfast will stop being served from mid-Novemeber - January 2025.

We were excited to come to this place but we were disappointed with the food. The risotto didn’t have rice (which is the main point of risotto right?) and the mac and cheese didn’t taste at all (something really difficult to find). The salad was good though. I really think the food can be improved a lot in this restaurant

The Grill at The Dickens Inn has a rustic ambiance with wooden beams and a cozy atmosphere. We ordered a burger n Seabass fish. The burger was generously portioned and well-cooked, while the seabass was fresh and flavorful, though the bed of vegetables was inconsistently heated, with some parts even cold. Service was good, and the overall experience was pleasant. The starters creamy mushroom w spinach was amazing. However, the apple berry crumble was just average—not particularly memorable. Overall, I’d rate the experience a 3.5 out of 5.

I really like this place, mainly for its view and location. The pub spans multiple floors, and you can sit on the balcony, which offers an even better view. The food is decent.
