The Breakfast Club have been ‘Taking care of breakfast since 2005’ and show no sign of slowing down, with their iconic yellow gaffs popping up everywhere across the capital.

Showcasing the best in comfort food in a cool industrial shipping container, The Breakfast Club’s quirky venue in Croydon’s Boxpark bills itself as “70s Christmas Chic” and is as cosy as you’d expect from that description.

The heavy, autumnal patterned curtains give the feel of a cocoon and there are tongue-in-cheek signs and posters strung up around the tight-knit space, a nod to the old-school nostalgia they do so well.

For veggies, the bean shakshuka & avo toast is a delight – poached eggs in a thick harissa, tomato and pepper sauce with sliced avo toast for dipping. Carnivores can’t go wrong with The Breakfast Burrito, which is full to the brim with chorizo, egg, peppers and spicy pepper sauce (also available as a veggie version).

Suppliers like Joe’s Tea and Karma Cola work closely with The Breakfast Club, cementing their status as a champion of independent businesses and ethical practices Their products are all sustainable and come from across the country to celebrate the best of British.

Croydon Boxpark has a number of artisan food businesses so why not have a stroll around before leaving for East Croydon Rail, which is just a stones-throw away.

Overall a nice place. Visited for a quick breakfast, was warmly welcomed and taken to the table. Service was amazing. Food was okay, a bit overpriced since paid around 50 pounds for a breakfast for 2. Mostly liked the artisan vibe of the place.

The Breakfast Club Croydon – Consistently Average Second visit, and sadly another average experience. Last time it was cold food, this time the eggs were wrong – had to send the plate back again. Ordered the Bacon, Eggs, Chips & Beans with extra sausage and black pudding. The sausage was the highlight – great flavour – but the black pudding was wafer thin and underwhelming, and the beans were overcooked. The Huevos Rancheros was easily the best dish – full of flavour and well put together. Tried the blueberry pancakes with vanilla cream as well – looked good, but the flavour didn’t match up - blueberries in the pancakes poor. Bit of a letdown. Worth noting - the toilets aren’t in the café itself – you have to head out into Boxpark to use them, which isn’t ideal. Won’t be going back – two visits, two disappointments.
