More than just a restaurant, Bacchanalia takes inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology on a grand and glorious scale, where a world or Mediterranean delicacies, revelry and artistry awaits.

The magnificent interiors feature hand-painted ceiling murals, sculptures of Medusa and the men’s loos are meant to represent Hades’ underworld. They have waiters in togas, an in-house grape-feeder and an abundance of photo opps for anyone who walks through their doors.

Bacchanalia is open for lunch and dinner and their menus are truly a decadent affair. Visit on a Sunday for their unique Roman Brunch, featuring a welcome cocktail and Greco-Roman dishes from the sharing meze platter, followed by a main course and a dessert. Indulge in specialities such as chicken souvla or rigatoni al ragu, to decadent treats including profiteroles or the signature tiramisu. Amidst the ambrosial flavours, experience melodic performances from live band entertainment. The cocktails are just as impressive, with signature libations inspired by Greece and its mythology.

Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, Bacchanalia is just a short walk from Bond Street and Green Park Underground Stations.

We visited Bacchanalia recently and the first thing that stood out was how beautiful the space is. The interiors are absolutely stunning and the whole restaurant has such a wow factor. We really enjoyed the starters and my husband had the steak for his main which he said was lovely. I ordered the aubergine and sadly it just didn’t taste right. It had a strange aftertaste, almost like old oil. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but something about the flavours was off and I ended up leaving 90% of it on the plate. Something that really caught our attention was the service. Our waiter didn’t smile, didn’t check in on us, and made no effort to be friendly. Even when he saw I’d barely touched my food, he cleared the plate without saying a word or asking if everything was okay. He just brought the bill and that was it. The setting is beautiful and definitely worth seeing if you love interiors, but the overall experience was let down by poor service and a disappointing main.

This place is… something. Lavish refurbishment? Yes. Tacky and remarkable in equal measure? Also yes, though not always in a good way. We came for a friend’s birthday lunch, having booked a set menu online that included three courses, a welcome drink, and a cocktail. Sadly, what we got was a juice shot, no cocktail, and a bizarre negotiation with staff to honour what we’d already paid for. The waiter admitted the deal wasn’t running anymore but said a manager might approve it. We eventually got our drinks—after pleading—and overheard the same thing happening to the table next to us. The food was fine, the live opera we barely caught, and the senior staff were dismissive at best. Host team and servers were lovely, but the overall experience left a bad taste. It’s the sort of place where the decor’s louder than the service. Not awful, but wouldn’t rush back.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on 01.07.25 What are my impressions after the visit? The interior is fascinating, I couldn't stop looking at those beautiful sculptures. Very nice staff, polite, hospitable. Since I booked a table for myself, there might not have been many food options, it would have been better to come with a company. The first thing I ordered a Greek salad and a Cleopatra cocktail, unfortunately, such a cocktail was not available, so I decided to try the Cupid. Then I ordered Tagliatelle Truffle, it tasted good, but for some reason I didn't finish it. Of course I wanted to try the Tiramisu dessert, since the reviews were the best. It is a really delicious! And at the end, I ordered a Nymph 🍸. I definitely recommend Bacchanalia Mayfair but the only downside is that there is a charge for charging phone. It's fine for service charge, they are really deserved 👍 Next time I would like visit this restaurant when opera play.
