we came for the Sunday roast and the roast was not very nice at all, potatoes were dry as was the Yorkshire and not hot and they gave the tiniest bit of gravy only enough to just cover the meat, only got one part of a carrot and it was rock solid then a very small amount of cabbage and was £20 just for the roast. Although my starter was ok (tempura prawns) I would not recommend the roast and the drinks were over priced. Service was also slow they took almost 2 hours for our mains to come out after having our starter and the restaurant was empty, we was left with our starter plates for around an hour.

After having a great experience here for my birthday earlier on in the year we booked our Christmas get together with parents. I had called the week before to double check the booking (as i had heard nothing). I was advised if we wanted the festive menu a deposit would be required. I payed the deposit and nothing more was said. On arrival we didn't feel very welcome from the beginning. The lady serving us had no idea we was due to have the festive menu and made us feel like we had made the whole thing up! She did check with the kitchen and they agreed to let us have the menu. We waited over 1.5 for starter. Drinks very slow. Our main meal again slow and cold. We waited 5 minutes for extra gravy. The staff not attentive or friendly. Made us feel very unwelcome, a very different experience from the last visit. When receiving our bill we where utterly shocked at the cost of the meal to the standard we had received and service. Such a shame, if this pub is for locals only maybe this should be stated when booking.

Me and my wife came here for luch. Firstly the food was five star. I’ve eaten at 1000’s of restaurants and pubs over the years and the food here is right up there. For starters I had the Chilli squid, saffron aioli and my wife had the Pan-seared scallops. Both were absolutely delicious. My wife had been craving a steak for many months and she had the Dry aged ribeye steak at £35. She asked for it medium and it was cooked to perfection. I had the Double cheeseburger at £18 which was also delicious and one of the best burgers I’ve had. The only reason why I’ve given this a 4star and not a 5star is due to the service. The lady server was fantastic really polite and extremely friendly. The male server whilst very polite and friendly it seemed like he was in some sort of competition with the lady server. It seemed like he kept trying to take over her tables and asking the diners if they wanted deserts or extra drinks without communicating with his colleague. I heard on a number of occasions other guests getting irritated by him that he kept trying to take over her tables without any communication with her and she seemed embarrassed at times when people told her the other waiter has already asked us. When she brought the bill over to us he came straight over and took the money without telling her. When she came over to us with the card machine to take payment and we said he’s already taken it she seemed annoyed by it. We left a generous tip but not sure who the tip went to. Total cost of lunch was £125 plus tip. Will we come back 100% but the issue of who is serving what tables needs to be resolved. When we come back if that is resolved then I will happily leave a 5 star review.
