I’ve given 4 stars compared to Malmaison Liverpool and comments below. We’ve only ever stayed at Malmaison Liverpool a number of times so first time away from there. Beautiful hotel with great transport links on buses, trams and city tour buses. The staff were truly lovely! Our first allocated room wasn’t great so lady in reception relocated us. Second room was ok but towel rail never warmed and switch for heating was so high on wall, I couldn’t reach (husband could - just!) Breakfast was lovely. Only downside was when in Liverpool we are told about no room service / drink instead. We don’t like our room serviced but not offered this but later found out it was also the same (as we were leaving to go home!) Overall, lovely stay, lovely staff but not sure I’d book again for room and distance from old town where a lot of attractions are.

We had a group reservation at 7pm and waited an hour for our dinner, even though we had sent our meal preferences in advance. The dining room was freezing, so I kindly asked if it could be warmed up. They replied that everyone was happy with the temperature but said they would increase the heat, though it would take some time. However, nothing changed, and I’m quite sure they didn’t adjust the heat—it actually felt even worse. Additionally, the service was extremely slow, and the main dish arrived cold.

The staff were amazing, particularly Anna who helped us check-in a little early (as we arrived in Edinburgh at silly o'clock on the overnight sleeper and it had started to snow!). We were lucky enough to find a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package that suited us - food was great too. Excellent location - so handy for a long weekend - Waverly rail station is a short walk away and there's on open-top bus city tour stop almost outside the front door (also recommended, by the way - BrightBus).
