When looking for something different from pub food, this is a refreshing change of pace. After an all-day tour, we popped in late, requesting a table for two. They were quite accommodating, even with only 20 minutes to close.
We started with a Peroni, red wine, and garlic mozzarella focaccia. Skip the Peroni and grab a glass of wine, but do NOT sleep on the focaccia. It was phenomenal!
For our meals, we chose the lasagna and the Penne Giardiniera. The lasagna was the perfect comfort food layered with sauce, cheese, and beef. The tomato sauce was smooth, with just the right texture, not too many tomato chunks, and the béchamel sauce was the perfect complement. I would have liked one additional layer of baked mozzarella on top. The penne was light and flavorful, featuring fun spinach balls, a unique touch we highly recommend trying.
The best part? The fresh grated cheese! Even our waiter stopped by to ensure we received this service, which added to the experience. Unfortunately, we were too full to enjoy dessert this time, but we’ll save room on our next visit!
