In both the fine-dining setting of the Restaurant and the light and airy Conservatory, breakfast and Sunday lunch are elegant affairs at Summer Lodge.

The talented team uses seasonal, local ingredients, complemented by produce from their own kitchen gardens to craft delicious dishes.

Local flavours are the language of breakfast, from the farmhouse Somerset apple juice to the Dorset Muesli. Sublime West Country produce makes the buffet a locavore’s delight, while cooked options showcase local free-range eggs, Banana with Natural Yoghurt, Dried Cranberries, Goji Berries & Pumpkin Seeds, and bread from the Evershot Bakery. Vegan and gluten-free options are available.

With the amazing local produce available on their doorstep, a brigade of exceptional chefs create wonderful menus that carefully reflect the philosophy of “farm to fork”.

From wonderful local cheeses to Dorset truffles and everything in between, Summer Lodge are never short of delicious produce, enhanced by the freshest ingredients grown in our own kitchen gardens and polytunnels. With an extensive wine selection, the dining experience is made even more extraordinary.

The Sunday Menu features a range of starters including Smoked Hake, Dill & Buttermilk Snow and Pickled Beetroot & Heritage Tomato Tart with Goat's Curd & Pesto, before indulging in a selection of roasts. Choose from Roast Dry Aged Sirloin of Fossil Farm Beef, Creedy Carver Chicken Breast accompanied with duck fat roast potatoes, seasonal veg, Yorkshire puddings and red wine gravy.

The Restaurant is proud to hold three AA Rosettes.

A lovely quaint and historic place, calm and cozy. Had a lovely cream tea. A very naughty but nice treat if you're looking to have a relax that comes at a fairly expensive cost but it's definitely a high class establishment, so if you want to push the boat out for a special occasion this is a good bet.

My partner and I spent three wonderful days at Summer Lodge to celebrate her special birthday. The staff were consistently courteous, professional and friendly: we were received with a special birthday tea and a lovely welcoming message from the managers. Our room was perfect, the meals were delicious, the grounds are delightful and the location is ideal for exploring the glorious Hardy Country (incidentally, Thomas Hardy was an architect who designed a wing of Summer Lodge). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will certainly return. Stephen Friar

Went many years ago for lunch so decided to revisit for afternoon tea whilst on holiday in the area. What can I say. Unquestionably the best afternoon tea I have ever had. Service is impeccable without being overbearing. Lovely peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Had a nice chat with the manager (sorry forgot his name). Strongly recommend.
