Toby Carvery - Darlington

We had a carvery that was super value and delicious. Hayley and Stacey were so helpful with allergies, got extra vegetables cooked for me without sauce. Nice background music, quiet comfortable atmosphere. This was a lovely lunch. I've had one or two not so good experiences in the south with Toby, but this visit has restored my liking. I recommend this restaurant.

Great staff and very friendly. Lovely roast, all the meats were great and loved the leak and potato slices (gorgeous) and the mash. Nice gravy and standard stuffing. Average roast potatoes. Nice pork cracking. Toby’s in the North are way better than the south.

If I could give lower, I would. I waited 30mins for a sandwich and ended up cancelling the order as my partner had finished his meal. If the place was busy I could understand but it was the first order to be placed. The carvery had only just opened so you would have thought the turkey, gammon and sage and onion stuffing where already prepared. My sandwich was supposed to come with a side order of either roast potatoes or salad, I do not know what it eventually would have come with as I wasn't asked. I chased the order up after 20mins, to be told it would come to the table when it was ready, no apologies or explanation as to why it was taking so long to make a sandwich. Once my partner had finished his meal, I cancelled my order, again no apologies, just told rather abruptly it can take up to 20mins. I had now waited 30mins. The tea was cold, no tea spoons and had to ask for sugar. The 3 waitresses that were present looked so miserable to be there that it didn't promote a good atmosphere. This is the first time I have visited this particular Toby Carvery, I have been to several others with no problems at all. I certainly will not be returning to this one again
