Nice Setting, Friendly Staff, But Disappointing Roast Dinner We tried this restaurant after hearing some positive reviews, and while the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were incredibly friendly, sadly, it didn’t live up to expectations. We’re regulars when it comes to Sunday roasts, and we know a good one when we see it. The meal itself was cooked okay, but all three of us agreed that the gravy was just off. It had an overpowering, overly salty flavor that completely ruined the roast for us. We tried to salvage the meal by scraping off the gravy, but it didn’t help much. For a place charging premium prices, all the components of a roast need to be spot-on, and this one fell short. We left feeling like we hadn’t gotten our money’s worth and, unfortunately, won’t be returning.

A splurge well worth it. The Inn's character combined with the staff's warm welcome and hospitality makes it an ideal spot from which to explore the Dales and feel quite pampered while doing so. A special thanks to Lizzie and her colleague (and the chefs!) for a lovely tasting menu experience.

We popped in at the Black Bull Hotel in Sedbergh and were impressed by the cosy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bar is well stocked with a good range of drinks. There's also a spacious beer garden, which was a lovely spot to relax on a warm afternoon. That said, it’s definitely priced for the tourist market. A round of four soft drinks for the kids – just bottles of cola – came to £17 (£4.25 each), which felt steep even for the area. The food looked good but again, on the expensive side. Lovely setting and ambience, but be prepared to pay top-end prices for the experience.
