Located in the idyllic countryside between Newquay and Truro, we have an exceptionally spacious garden for you to enjoy the Cornish sunshine (fingers crossed).

Welcome to our British restaurant and pub, with gardens, in the picturesque countryside of Cornwall, between Truro and Newquay. We offer sustainable British pub food, with a luxury approach. It’s a simple offering but really showcases the best of produce from in and around Cornwall. Our Sunday lunch is perfect to come and enjoy with your friends and family (and your dogs are more than welcome too!).

The name ‘The Tartan Fox’ is inspired by my Scottish roots and the location of the pub, which is nestled in the middle of a Cornish forest and, much like a fox’s home, is a den to escape in the countryside. A group of foxes is called an earth, which ties into my commitment to sustainability. I’m all about celebrating the history of this stunning 400-year-old Grade II listed building, which sits on a 30 acre estate.

Our menu gives a new walk of life to the classic pub dishes – refined with more luxury ingredients and a touch of Scottish influence too. With a focus on seasonal produce, we have created a regularly changing menu, working closely with local producers from in and around Cornwall. You’ll be happy to see some of our signature favourites from over the years too!

We eat out a lot and we were looking forward to dining here. We weren't disappointed ! Wow where to start !! The food is amazing as you would expect. A really diverse menu and wine list. You are literally spoilt for choice. I had the Haggis Scotch Eggs and then the Hot Smoked Lamb Rump with Asparagus and Wild Garlic. Truly amazing. All the staff are super friendly without being over the top . Giving advice about the food and drinks. Outside eating area which is dog friendly. This place is definitely recommended, can't wait to go back and try something else off the menu 🙂

Absolutely divine dining experience. We took our 18 month old cocker spaniel with us, he was greeted as warmly as we were. The food was mouth-wateringly delicious. I’d highly recommend the cheese doughnuts, light but so flavoursome. The batter on the fish was light but crispy, the quality of the fish was incredible. The pork chop was melt in the mouth with the most amazing apple sauce. Everything was perfectly cooked and served. The staff are a credit to the establishment; friendly, knowledgeable and ready to help. Thank you so much for an awesome dining experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went for my Birthday in March & what a treat 😳 The staff were incredible, friendly, informative, superb services. The food was exceptional, we could not fault in any way everything tasted so so good. Slightly larger vegetable sides would be good 😊 Loverly touch of a birthday card & the happy birthday chocolate on my dessert. The only small criticism would be the high prices on Wine, we aren’t London !! add 2 or 3 more reasonable prices for us locals. However we will return 😁
