This was my first visit back to toby Caerphilly since it has had its refurbishment and the difference is amazing. The decor is really nice and the new edition of the bar area and function room really makes it. Breakfast as before is still just as good everything you can need and want to fill you right up. Staff are very polite and helpful. Jordan my sever was very welcoming and friendly too. Would highly recommend to any one who wants a good breakfast.

The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and spotless. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The food was very tasty and fresh, and there was plenty. The bar staff was extremely helpful and a joy to interact with.

Got a carvery takeaway. I understand a takeaway won’t be as nice as eating in but we wanted to eat from home. Unfortunately, all of the food was bland. The gravy was like water, the roasties were pale, the other vegetables were all tasteless and we were given the toughest, fattiest pieces of meat. The slices of ‘beef’ were 95% fat and gristle. I was expecting the option to take our takeaway trays and go to the counter and pick our own food like everyone else. However, I was told that the takeaway carveries are done for you as a set meal. Considering the eat-in carvery and the takeaway carvery is EXACTLY the same price, we should be able to go to the counter and get our own food. This is the only reason we came to the restaurant today. They allow you to get your own food at Cedar Tree Farm in Cardiff and it’s much better! This is sadly the second time we’ve had an awful experience with this Toby. We came for my brother’s birthday a year or two back. We booked a table, we turned up and there was no food left due to the restaurant being busier than expected. I understand sometimes this happens, but if you’re expecting a booking maybe you should prepare enough food. I was hoping that we would have a better experience after the renovation. Sadly, we were disappointed. Waste of £30.
