In search of somewhere to go for a family meal we came across the Forest. I booked me and my family in with Sean who was very polite and helpful. Even a last minute time change wasn’t a problem and no hassle at all. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome. Being a Sunday we opted for the Sunday roast. I had the beef which was fantastic. Tender, full of flavour, seasoned potatoes, a good Yorkshire pudding and gravy to die for. Others got the chicken which also looked lovely. It was a nice relaxed family atmosphere. A special mention for Sean who seemed to be running things with great effect through delegation or his charming self. He ensured our glasses were always full without us having to flag down a waitress or waiter. It was just an all round pleasant experience. From the staff, the service, and the quality of food and drink. Certainly the best in the area for food and drink. We now have a solid place to go to for future family meals. Thank you Sean and Team.

Multi-hour wait for cold, overcooked food with no acknowledgement or apology from staff. It was very quiet when we visited, yet basic service was lacking—no plates provided for sharing, and no condiments offered. We had to send some food back as members of our party had to leave due to the excessive wait. Thankfully, that food was removed from the bill; otherwise, this would have been a 1-star review. It's a beautiful building in a lovely location, but unfortunately, the experience was let down by poor management

We were visiting the area and the reviews for Forest looked good so I booked. There was a really loud christening party that had ended but guests were still there. The table wasn’t ready ( even though we were running 5 mins late ) and when it was made ready it was in the middle of the party group so we had to shout at each other to be heard . Other people also left and we saw one family come in with kids and leave really quickly. When we said we were asked for our order we explained we were going to get off as it wasn’t relaxing at all and the bar staff were really understanding.
