A delicious, traditional Sunday Roast whilst overlooking stunning views of the City, Roast Restaurant is as welcoming and homely as it is a special event.

The expansive space above Borough Market, a Victorian-esque haven with grand arched windows and a glass front to peer out over the skyline, has been fittingly repurposed and is now home to one of the tastiest Sunday Roasts in the area.

Breakfast dishes range from lighter bites - granola with dried berries, porridge with fresh berries, smashed avocado and poached egg - to a hearty 'Full Borough' and 'Full Veggie Borough.' Breakfast runs until 11:30, which makes it a tidy brunch option in Borough Market.

The area is the birthplace of market traders, peddling their wares from dusk until dawn, so why not take advantage and have a gander at what’s on offer before heading to London Bridge Underground, just a five-minute walk away.

I have not been to Borough market for a number of years but the highlight used to be Roast to Go where they happily gave you chopped up pork and crackling with apple sauce and no bun. Or with the bun if you wanted it. I was crushed when I realised it was no longer there so decided to go to the Roast restaurant where I ordered the roast pork. Unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. The crackling was soft but not crackly. The pork was Ok but the middle bit very tough. The roast potatoes were OK but I have had better. Their bread was good Great views since they put me in a great window seat. Service was good and this plus the seat location is what got them to three stars. But I would be hard pressed to recommend the food. Shame. I had hoped to find a replacement for the stunning roast pork they used to serve. Happy to pay a lot more for the restaurant and it was about 4x the price but need it to be as incredibly good which it wasn’t. I shall have to find another option. The paella stall was busy so I might have to try that. I was sort of happy to get away from the crowds to eat but food needed to be better

Amazing Halloween decorations definitely 10/10. We tried the vegetarian afternoon tea, which was nice but the scones needed improvements, they were not your typical scones in afternoon tea hard and flaky and we didn’t finish them as really not tasty at all. Service was slow and waiters not attentive but other than service and scones the experience was good. The Halloween decor made up for the slow service.

Had a table for 2 for roast dinner - One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had! All of the food was spot on, from the vegetables, to the roast potatoes, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Views over the market, attentive staff. Pricey, but you get what you pay for!
