This is just the place to go if you are in need of some lovely comfort food and a nice meal out. It’s a family friendly restaurant with a homely, cozy design and layout and the food never disappoints. When it comes to children, the kids menu is great! It’s very good for the price — your little one can create their own meal with a choice of a main, two sides and a dessert for £6.49 (smaller bites), £7.49 (bigger apatites), and £8.49 (harvester recommendations). A free unlimited salad comes with this too! The unlimited salad bar is one of my favourite things about this place and i would recommend it highly due to this. Another reason i highly recommend is because of their vegetarian options. I am a fan of their Beyond Dirty burger for vegetarians. It’s a big burger which packs a punch, if you have a small apatite it will be hard to get this down!

We always have a nice meal when we go to the Wheatsheaf, however this time it was very good - we found the two staff that we dealt with were very engaging, helpful, happy and efficient. The greeting was good and the food was good quality. Sadly I cannot remember the name of our server

We visited on Saturday evening and was shown straight to a table. We ordered the drinks and were told the server would come back and take the order for the food after we had decided what we wanted. After a while our order for our food was taken and we went up to get our salad. There were no bread rolls and I asked someone and after waiting a while, some were brought out. The rolls were freezing cold and looked partially cooked. I asked if they could be warmed and they were taken out the back to be warmed. After more waiting I received warm soft buns that still looked partially uncooked and were doughy. I went back my table and then had to go and ask when we would be getting our drinks. I was told someone would bring them soon. After waiting again and just before our food was brought out, our glasses came. As we were having refills, we went to get our drinks. One of the drinks was like water so we mentioned this to the server who said it looked like the syrup had run out, took the glass and did not return for ages. When the server returned I asked if they still did the crayons for the children as my small grandchild was getting restless, he said he would bring some over. When our food came my older grandchild did not have vegetable sticks like we wanted and had fries on their plate. The server said he would get a serving of vegetable sticks separately and we would not be charged for the fries. My daughter's burger bun was burnt. The mushroom on my plate was smaller than the tomato and my steak was like charcoal. I have added pictures as you can see some of our meals. I was also asked what sauce I would like and found out from the receipt it was an extra £2 for a small pot of gravy. I thought it was included with the meal. I do not think our meals were value for money, as my meal was close to £19, £21 with the gravy and the burnt burger was £16. There was a lot of waiting around but I would say the server looked rushed off his feet which is probably why we had to ask for the crayons, glass and drinks. Overall it was not a pleasant experience, considering it cost over £130. The food was a disappointment and the bread rolls looked and tasted half cooked. On a plus side the deserts were delicious and worth the money, but I will not be rushing to return.
